Jyotish & Devi, Spiritual Directors of Ananda Worldwide

Weekly Blog: A Touch of Light

Touch of Light is a weekly email letter/blog from Jyotish or Devi. These letters are delightful, deep, sometimes humorous, and always a bright reminder for living with greater awareness and joy. Swamiji named Jyotish his spiritual successor. He and Devi serve as spiritual directors for Ananda worldwide.

The Expanding Light Retreat

The Expanding Light Retreat is located at Ananda Village, Nevada City. It’s a peaceful, rural retreat that lets you dive deeply into Yogananda’s teachings, or take a personal retreat on your own. Explore their full calendar of classes and training programs. They also host pilgrimages to sacred places around the world.

Ananda Meditation Retreat

The Meditation Retreat is near Ananda Village, and even more remote. This place of seclusion is nestled in the forests of the Sierra foothills. It’s where Ananda first began in 1967. It’s a powerful, deeply quiet, place to retreat and renew.

Ananda VILLAGE

Both of these retreats (above) are in or near Ananda Village—where it all began in the late 1960s. Take a video tour of Ananda, and visit as part of your retreat stay. Ananda Village is a community of a few hundred people—the fulfillment of Yogananda’s dream of “world brotherhood colonies” devoted to “simple living and high thinking.” Every aspect of life is expressed here—families, work, service, play—with spirituality as the pulsing heart that animates everything you see.

A video visit to Ananda Assisi

Ananda Assisi

The peace and power of St Francis permeate the Umbrian hills of Italy near his birthplace. The Ananda community and retreat are unusually integrated here, with guests and community alike gathering daily for shared meals and meditation. Classes are offered with translation into many languages. If you are planning a trip to Italy, don’t miss this sacred place.
