About Healing Prayers
As part of his work to guide people in their spiritual practices, Paramhansa Yogananda, author of the spiritual classic, Autobiography of a Yogi, taught specific techniques for awakening healing energy within each individual.. These techniques have been found to overcome physical, emotional, and spiritual difficulties including serious illnesses. He emphasized that we should use our God-given powers to heal ourselves and others, but not think of these powers as our own powers.
Yogananda's healing techniques employ “...the scientific use of concentration and affirmations for healing inharmonies of body, mind and soul through reason, will, feeling and prayer.” He stated that darkness cannot remain where the Light is present. Attuning ourselves to God’s Light (that which is present in every atom of creation) through meditation, prayer, affirmation, and other means can drive away the darkness of disease in a person’s body, mind and soul.
Faith and devotion are also necessary. Yogananda counseled that we approach God as His child, not as a beggar, and we should demand as our divine birthright that He listen to our prayers. We should keep on praying with unceasing devotion and faith until all our doubts fall away and we feel Divine Joy permeating our entire being. Then, we know that God is responding to our prayers and He will heal us according to divine will in the way that is needed for our highest good.
Healing prayers are sent to others by drawing on the unlimited divine energy available to all of us and projecting it to the person in need.

Ananda has established a Healing Prayer Ministry with a corps of more than 600 volunteers worldwide who pray for those in need. You may request prayers for yourself or others and you are also invited to become a member of the Healing Prayer Network. We are here to serve you.
Healing Prayer Requests
The Healing Prayer Ministry feels blessed to pray for you and your loved ones. If you or someone you love is experiencing a health challenge or difficult life situation, we can help with healing prayers. You can request prayers for healing—for physical, mental, or spiritual well-being.
We can pray from a distance or directly with you in our prayer circles (see Healing Prayer Network). For emergency situations, we have a prayer “hotline” that can be quickly activated. Please call us at 650-323-3363 or indicate Emergency on the request form.
Healing Prayer Network
The Healing Prayer Network which consists of many volunteers who pray daily for those in need. Healing Prayer Circles meet twice each month. You are welcome to join us anytime, even if you have not participated before. In our Healing Prayer Circles, we pray together using Paramhansa Yogananda’s scientific healing techniques. The Healing Prayer Circle meets:
• The first Wednesday of each month at 7 pm in the Ananda Community Temple in Mountain View, California. Directions.
• The third Sunday of each month after Sunday Service (about noon) at the Ananda Teaching Center (upstairs classroom) in Palo Alto, California. Directions.

Jack, a 70 year old friend of my mother’s, had been undergoing tests done for a couple months and the doctors were convinced that he had cancer (lymphoma) in the intestine. They scheduled a biopsy to remove as much cancerous tissue as possible and were also suggesting follow-up chemo treatment.
Jack is a very likable guy and has many sincere friends, so there were many people of praying for him. After taking an Ananda healing workshop, I began putting more energy into my prayers and I would also hold Jack in the Light whenever I remembered. I often visualized receiving a call from my mother saying the doctors couldn’t find anything.
I put him on the pray network a few days before the surgery, and included a photo as well. I couldn’t reach my mother until the day after the biopsy. She excitedly told me that the doctors could find nothing except some inflammation and scar tissue that looked precisely as though a surgery had been performed though it had not! Follow up tests on the tissue samples they took showed absolutely no signs of cancer. I feel prayers were instrumental in Jack’s outcome. Thank you!
