Become a certified meditation teacher and share the many benefits of this practice with a wide range of students. Meditation teachers are needed in a wide range of settings, including hospitals, health clubs, corporations, and yoga centers. Meditation is used in clinical settings for treatment of PTSD. Schools are increasingly offering these skills to children to help reduce stress and enhance performance. Hospitals provide meditation training to support cancer and surgery recovery.

heidiAnanda is known for its expertise in meditation. For 50 years, we’ve been training teachers in meditation skills grounded in the highest yogic practices of India. From personalized training to post-training support, we help you in every way to become a skilled, professional meditation teacher.

You don't need to become a teacher to enroll; you are welcome to attend to enrich and deepen your personal practice.

Instructors

Doug Andrews and Vivekadevi Noh-Kuhn have been practicing and teaching meditation for over 30 years. As Co-Directors of the Ananda Bay Area 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program, they bring a wealth of real world experience, and a spirit of joy to the art of teaching.

Eligibility & Prerequisites

Eligibility for Meditation Teacher Training requires some previous experience with meditation—a minimum of 3-6 months. This does not have to include practicing Ananda Meditation, but as a participant you will find it helpful if you are familiar with Hong Sau or a mindfulness meditation technique. Both Ananda Centers offer an introductory Learn to Meditate class. Those with questions regarding eligibility are encouraged to contact Doug or Vivekadevi directly. All applications will be personally reviewed and evaluated for approval by the instructors.

Graduation

Successful completion requires attendance at all sessions. Excused absences may be allowed on a case-by-case basis. Please inquire if you have a schedule conflict. (This course is offered only once every 18 months and thus make-up sessions are not possible.) Out-of-class commitments include reading the texts, written homework, personal practice, take-home final and teaching presentation final. Regrets, no admission after the first class.

Yoga Alliance Level II 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training certification: Applicable as 80 Hour Program.

This course is also part of Ananda's Yoga Therapy Training (taught only in Nevada City, at this time.) In the Course Syllabus we will be using, certain parts apply only to those seeking certification as an Ananda Yoga Therapist.

Yoga Alliance RYT's and E-RYTs: This course offers up to 46 hours of continuing education credit for Ananda Yoga Therapists. Ask your instructor for documentation.

Approved graduates will be awarded with Meditation Teacher Training completion certificates, and be eligible to register as a certified meditation teacher with Yoga Alliance. This course is part of the 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training and qualifies as an advanced yoga training for those seeking 500 Hour and/or Yoga Therapy Certification.
