Ananda Chanting (Kirtan)

Yogananda used chanting as a tool for spiritual development. At Ananda chanting sessions (know as kirtans in Sanskrit) are held once a week. The words to the chant are projected on a wall; so they are very easy to follow. The musicians play harmonium and guitar. A lead chanter guides the chanting sessions. Two of Yogananda's chants are presented here. Purchase CD's of live Friday night Kirtans (chanting sessions) from our on-line store.

Ananda Palo Alto's musicians: Robert Clark, lead vocal and harmonium; Dharmini Iyer, vocal and harmonium; Joe Begley and Greg Dyal, guitar. Recorded from Friday night kirtans.

Polestar of My Life*Photo of Robert Clark and his harmonium

I have made Thee Polestar of my life.

I have made Thee Polestar of my life.

Though my sea is dark and my stars are gone,

Though my sea is dark and my stars are gone,

still I see the path through Thy mercy.

still I see the path through Thy mercy.
