in Chela Bhavan, Ananda Community
(replaces the usual 3rd Friday kirtan)
Yogananda’s guru Sri Yukteswar was among many things, an astrologer. Realizing that the evenings of the two Equinoxes and Solstices were auspicious for spiritual blessings, Yukteswar guided the devotees in celebrations, singing together to God. Join us as we welcome the expansive season of autumn and, “whip up our devotion,” to open our hearts and increase our receptivity to God’s love and joy.
Chanting has the power to transform and uplift the soul, and to open the heart. Most chants are simple to learn, so you’ll be able to join in easily your first time. Words are provided. We’ll sing many beautiful chants in English, as well as some Indian chants, accompanied by harmonium and guitar. All are welcome.
