Week 4: Jesus Christ
Yogananda and the teachings he brought to the West represent a lineage of gurus / spiritual preceptors as well as a timeless tradition. There are five gurus that he considered part of this lineage and placed on the altar: Jesus Christ, Mahavatar Babaji (also understood as an incarnation Krishna), Lahiri Mahasaya, Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri, and Paramhansa Yogananda himself.
Gurus are much more than teachers or even saints. They represent a pure channel to the divine and a consciousness that transcends all worldly limitations. Each one of these gurus played a unique and special role during the time they lived, and their legacy continues to shape the lives, not just of disciples, but of this planet as a whole through their continued spiritual magnetism.
In this class series, we will explore the historical context, spiritual mission, and core teachings of four of these gurus in an effort to tune into their living consciousness and draw their blessings into our lives.
