Overstimulated: Quieting the Mind in Today’s Busy World

  • Ananda Temple 2171 El Camino Real Palo Alto, CA United States (map)

Saturday, August 8 • 10am-12:30
Cost: $45

Modern life often leaves us mentally overstimulated and disconnected from a deeper sense of calm and clarity. Constant notifications, endless information, multitasking, and the pressure to always be “on” can fragment our attention and drain our energy. Over time, this affects not only our focus, but also our emotional balance, relationships, and inner well-being.

This experiential workshop explores both the causes of modern overstimulation and practical tools for restoring calmness, focus, and inner strength. Drawing from timeless yogic principles and practices in conscious living, we will examine the relationship between attention, energy, and awareness in daily life.

We will begin with an extended yoga postures practice, to bring the body and mind into gentle alignment with calmness and clarity; followed by some lecture, discussion and reflective activities to help us activate the quiet within.

Together, we will explore how overstimulation impacts the nervous system, why silence and stillness are essential for renewal, and how small shifts in daily rhythm can create greater balance and peace. The workshop will include guided yoga postures, breath and awareness practices, reflection exercises, and practical techniques for reclaiming attention and cultivating a more centered and intentional life.

Contributing members of Ananda are welcome to join free of cost.
