Fire ceremony and meditation 9am, Sunday service — 10-11:30 am
Sunday services with special guests and visiting ministers Narayani and Shurjo
Services at Ananda are joyful, music-filled, and thoughtful. They explore meaningful answers to challenging questions about life. There is often laughter, and sometimes heartfelt tears.
Service is inspired by the spiritual teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda (Autobiography of a Yogi) and his lifelong disciple, Swami Kriyananda. It begins with a short period of chanting and meditation, followed by readings from the Bhagavad Gita and Bible, a 30-minute sermon, and a ceremony afterward, called the Festival of Light.
Until recently Tyagis Narayani and Shurjo were the Spiritual Directors of Ananda Mumbai
Narayani met Swami Kriyananda in the year 2005. In her desire to serve her Guru, Narayani moved from Spain to India. She was Swami Kriyananda’s personal assistant for the last 4 years of his life.
Shurjo joined Ananda in 2009 after completing his degree in Fashion Technology. He has been a founding member of Ananda’s work in Pune. After his marriage to Narayani in 2012, he too assisted and travelled with Swami Kriyananda, until the latter’s passing in 2013.
Initially, both were based out of Ananda in Pune, followed by service at the Ananda ashram in Delhi. From 2018 onwards they were leaders of the work in Mumbai expanding and spreading Yogananda's mission in various ways, including founding an ashram in Madh Island, a cafe to share the refined and uplifting vibrations of this path, supporting an orphanage in line with Yogananda's teachings on education, and founding another urban teaching center in the heart of Mumbai.
